Richard, have you tried other social media? Facebook, for example.

Well it was blogs like yours and all the texts and tweets etc, plus emails from friends and/or contacts in Bangkok and Phuket especially, that kept me up to date with what was happening in a country I have visited many times over the past 20 years and have a great affection for.

Great photographs too. Thank you very much.

And it was how I discovered Thai Blogs.com plus a couple of other informative and interesting sites that I will refer friends to.

Over the last 15 years or so, a friend and I wrote down things about Visiting Phuket as notes for friends doing the same thing. Over the years it has become a Tip Sheet - a sort of quick start to a holiday there - and now some 40 pages. Over 2,000 have gone out without charge over the past 12 months to members of 'Trip Advisor'.

So I will put a link in the Tip Sheet for your blog and look forward to continuing our acquaintance.

Best wishes.

Cheers!

Richard, your tweets and blog have been a great resource for me when dealing with corporate security on travel restriction negotiations. Also, since my travels to BKK, I have become fond of the people there and consider many of them to be my friends. Having your reports handy helped me to better understand the situtaion on the ground. Thanks for reporting what you saw without a lot of speculation!!

Like others, I will continue following you on Twitter. Thanks for some great reporting of what the rally was really like. Sometimes CNN and other news sources nearly gave me a heart attack! I look forward to exploring Thailand's tourists attractions, festivals and culture through your eyes and tweets.

I have never used Twitter before but it is still interesting to read how you used new technology to report live about the protests. Social media is for sure changing how we receive our news these days.

Lots of self opinionated wanna be heroes tweeting pats on the back to each other and over the top dramatic messages - forgetting all along that this is not their country -a few smart and practical tweets in between but not many and one should remind the likes of Florian that only fools get shot in such situations and what happened makes you like another glory seeking young fool which is how your blogs read – Too many false heroes (CNN has a lot to answer for) and now they are all “experts “ in conflict – leave it with the Thais please – its their problem and let them resolve it – Also noticed amongst the regular tweeters as how many of them turned on the Reds once things got a bit more violent and many became army lovers overnight (Mr. Aviator (did he paint his face blue before he went a wandering) included – seen too many movies that naïve lad… – always remember – an unelected PM ordered the people of his nation to be murdered……..nuff said – however to Richard Barrow = excellent
