Keep these coming Steve. That one about the shoddy footwear, and the response, was one i've always remembered. It's hard to believe that some people took these letters so seriously.

Despite being the original illustrator
of this (in)famous book, I'd almost
forgotten about it!
It certainly brings back some memories...

steve excellent but there are people like edith. i was in khorat train station and standing beside me was this great white hunter and his wife. he had the hat the jacket with all the ammo pouches the lot all that was missing was his shot gun. well water drops on his wifes leg she looks up she looks down he looks up to see were the water was coming from.I was watching them they looked and actted so arrorgant.I eventually tapped the lady on the shoulder and told her the water was coming from her bag. With a lovely posh english accent she said thank you. That was it ?? We were the only 3westeners on the platform people. That was the whole conversation thanks ??I am irish and was in the company of a thai and this couple just seemed rude.

Thankx for the comments. Again, glad you enjoyed the write up. And yes, Koen above who commented was the original illustrator.

Why do you publish this material on an otherwise interesting and informative website? There are dozens of trash websites in Thailand for this kind of material. Are you seeking to join them?
