Great narration.
Thanks for taking up the idea of the Krathong for "absent friends".

Loy Krathong remains one of my favorite Thai holidays.

Seems like you have mixed feelings for Loy Kratong. The firecrackers seem to take a lot out of what you like.

I love Loy Kratong, but I've never been to one in a long time. The one I went to in Bangkok wasn't all peace and quiet as there was a lot people about, but there were no firecrackers. I have yet to see and experience the Yi Peng Lanna style. From your description, however, I don't think I'll enjoy all the noises.

The last picture is lovely. Thanks.

Witnessing the real thai loy krathong festival seems to be more pronounced in the Northern provinces. You have the floats parade, cultural dances and best of all the creativity of floral arrangements to make the krathongs.
Even you managed to find such activity in a quiet town like Lamphun.
Thanks for these wonderful pictures.

My Girlfriend made us a Krathong for us to Loy together. While "loy-ing" it slipped out of my hands and ended upside down in the water..she was not impressed.
