Well your driving skills would probably be considered more then average in Thailand at least in the eye of the beholder.

Personally I hate it when people go nostalgic, and I'm not saying you are one of them, about the "real" Thailand in the old times without tourists, roads, toilets and internet.

Apart from being snobbish its slightly offensive when people suggest Thais have the guts to spoil their perfect holiday by rising above poverty.

That said Pai seems to be a place even a city guy like me would love (in small doses) and I dont think this small gem would be any more real if we would remove the roads and fill them with mud :)
