Thai Website: Thailand Life

One of the first Thai bloggers in Thailand was Panrit "Gor" Daoruang who started back in 1997 when he was only 12 years old. He was blogging about his daily life at a time when people didn't really know what blogs were all about. For him it started as a school project to write a mini website which had at least six pages which described in words and pictures his life in Thailand. Most students left it at that, but as it turned out, Gor had a lot more to write about. Over the years he wrote about the ups and downs of his Thai life at school and then his married life. He also wrote about his dark side about when he became addicted to drugs. He became so famous that he was often interviewed for foreign newspapers and a few television shows. He was also contacted by the Bangkok Post to write a regular weekly column for them called "Gor's World" when he was only 16 years old. He published part one of his autobiography, called "Gor's Thailand Life", when he was 21. Although he has been in prison for the last three years, interest in his story still grows. Gor has now been released and will soon be writing about his life in prison as well as his Thailand life.

=) All the best to Gor and his family. Perhaps in the near future, if he feels like it, he may even think about setting up a forum that specifically offers words of advice and encouragement to individuals in Thailand (or anywhere else) still addicted to drugs but who will like to kick the habit.

=) kinda like be an inspiration to others cos that will both help others who are in a situation that was like his past but who had not so quite discovered their inner resources and strengths, as compared to him, to quit, and also acts as a subtle eternal encouragement to him to stay free of drugs forever, as I guess, perhaps, that it is harder to go back to the habit if the whole world is looking upon the person as the crusader against the habit..

chok dee for Gor, he was my first teacher of thai alphabet, good to know there are people like him out there who want to continue from where they've started. Gor! what you have done is amazing! I want to see more thai students of English who are so keen and diligent, I always set an example of you to my students. And, what's most important, it works!!! Again, chok dee ka!

Wow! What an amazing site, love all of the photo albums. It's really interesting to see the perspective of someone born and raised in Thailand.
