world food organisations often toll the alarm bells regarding the depletion of fish stock all over the world. there are so many large commercial trawlers off the coast of Thailand too that I am often wondering that the days of the simple fishermen are numbered.

Overloaded boat without life-jacket,sounds risky even if one is a good swimmer.Fear will be the rule of the day.
There might be crocodile dundee near the river estuary.
The architecture of the houses in Ban Sakhla looks a little bit like Malay style.

Sounds like a good boat trip. I would like to do this one day. However the boat doesn't sound like it is reliable. If there isn't a boat the day that I go what are my alternatives?

If you still want to go to Sakhla then catch a riverferry from the market to the other side where you will find a large songtaew that will take you all the way. This will cost you 3.5 baht and 8 baht respectively. Check the Samut Prakan Forums as I have posted pictures of the songtaew.
