I think these pictures are the reason we all came to Thailand and why we stay. Though, funny enough, I have never been there and for some reasons I live in an industrial city! Something wrong there. I am jealous of your travels and I should really make an effort to head south in the future.

Congratulations on the new blog Betti and thanks for the great pictures.
What do we have to do to get you to divulge the secret location? :)

I don't want to know the location. All I want are the right conditions-time, money etc- to get to the area and spend a month (or so!) searching for myself!

Great spot and lovely pictures! The Thai beach paradise is still alive and strong despite rumours to the contrary!

If you really wanted to keep it secret you certainly wouldn't blog or put up pics about it. This is more about you trying to stoke your ego with "i know somewhere you don't" nur nur nur.

Also, as soon as anyone goes anywhere it changes. Forever. If you want places to remain the same the solution is simple - don't go.

Personally I like change - especially when it is properly managed. Thailand's problem is more about respecting their own national parks. And behind the poverty many travellers find authentic or chic is illness, illiteracy, high infant mortality rates, short life expectancy etc etc.

I also think there are plenty of islands that travellers can visit in Thailand and find peace and quiet - we don't need to go and colonise anymore. Leave the pristine places pristine and don't introduce demand at all.

I'd actually be in favour of the Thais introducing very tight control on presently uninhabited islands with permits being needed for anyone to visit, dive etc. Many countries implement such moves in order to protect the environment.

so you think this is an ego trip? you don't know me :-)
this is not an uninhabited island. the local community benefits from the travellers.
access to different bays, beaches is very restricted and limited, and the whole area is off limits during the entire monsoon season. I think they are doing a good job in this particular place.
otherwise, I agree with you about the general principles.
