I was on my way back from visiting Klong Suan Market and it was an impulse side trip to find this place. It looked interesting to try but at the same time very hot. It was like mid afternoon and 38 degrees Celsius. They must have got terribly sunburned.

We did "cable ski"...more like cable wake boarding really...there what seems a billion years ago. I'd say 1996-1997...? Fondly remember sloshing up on the lake's muddy banks with super sore arms a couple of times and didn't even make it past the first turn. LOL.

There's another water sports facility even closer to Bangkok. The Nong Bon water sports centre at Chalerm Prakiart 43. It is beside what is probably the biuggest lake in Bangkok and right next to Rama 9 Park. They have a lovely new centre and plenty of friendly staff. You can use kayaks, wind surfs or small sailing dinghies.

To get there, for most people living in Bangkok, the easiest route is to go down Sukhumvit Road till you reach Soi 103 (Udomsuk). Carry on up the soi until you reach Sri Nakharin Road then take the flyover that connects to Chalerm Prakiart. Keep going until you pass the main entrance to Rama 9 Park (about 6km from Sukhumvit Rd) and you will soon see Soi 43. There is a large signpost for the centre, so it's hard to miss. Plenty of free parking and it's set in a huge park.

I think it's still 40 baht a year to become a member of the centre and maybe a few baht more for hiring a boat or windsurf.
