I think it it is the winning and not the award in this case! :-))
But it is re-assuring to know that despite all the turmoil of the last year, Bangkok is still the best place to be in Asia.

Congratulations Bangkok and Chiang Mai!
But that award! That award!!!! What in the heck is it supposed to be?!?! I think that's an ugly and rather vulgar looking thing perched atop the wood base. Dontcha think??!??

Great news for the tourism industry in Thailand after many bad things, which there were in such a way in the last months.

Let's hope it going to be the same next year, although I doubt it! People back home in Europe think Bangkok is some sort of a war zone.

Well done Bangkok.

I don't wish to introduce a note of negativity into this great achievement, but I have a question that I just HAVE to ask....those of a delicate disposition, look away now.

Ok. Here goes.

Could someone please explain to me why the prize awarded for the best Asian city is a HUGE TURD mounted on a wooden block?!

Surely this would be more appropriately awarded to the worst city in Asia?

Answers on a postcard please......

America is certainly a small market as far as the tourism business in Thailand. But, as we worship anything American, it is important to note any awards they give out on the world stage. For those interested in the background to the design of the award, I just zoomed into the photo I took and see it says "Designed exclusively for Conde Nast Traveler by Frank Gehry". If you do a Google Image search then you will some of his other work. Apparently, he also designed their cafeteria for them.

you people obviously don't understand art. the award is one of the most prestigious in the world and therefore can only be symbolized in the trophy by a large piece of bronzed water buffalo crap.

I'm not sure whether Frank Gehry designed that or left it behind after a big lunch.
