Excellent photos and report of the rally. Thanks for the first hand account of what is going on in Thailand. Are you taking these pictures for a news organization? If not you should. You obviously got very close to the stage. I don't think I would have been brave enough to do that.

It's really nice to see someone reporting on the other side (DAAD). I wish the best for both parties and wish no to see any more bloodshed.

My opinions on who I think is right our my own - but I would say lets stop the interfering with the day to day life of many of our fellow country men. Things are beginning to look like eye sores to some of my fellow Thais along with the rest of the world.

Thanks for a great eye-witness report Richard-I hope it gets syndicated along with your photos by the international press. Glad it all went well.

Regular updates of the situation can be found in the news section of ThailandQA Forums-link at end of the blog.

Thanks for all your comments. I take the photos for my own enjoyment and also for visitors to websites in the Paknam Web Network. Sometimes they are used by newspapers and magazines around the world. But I don't go out of my way to sell them nor do I go looking for clients. For me it is a hobby which I enjoy.

In reply to "bongo", the last time I looked Samut Prakan wasn't in Isaan. We are in fact south of Bangkok. The banner on the stage is calling for the people of Samut Prakan Province to stand up and protect democracy. I am not sure how many of them were farmers. Maybe a few fisherman as we are a fishing port.

Who would have thought that wearing the wrong 'colors' could get you in serious trouble. Though that would only happen in places like L.A.!

A great report. You certainly have to be careful about what colors you wear these days. I teach in a Bangkok university and one of my students said that they had a rock thrown at them near government house. They were trying to take pictures for their project and one of them just happened to be wearing a red shirt.

Great report Richard.

BTW Bongo, I'm no fan of Thaksin or Samak but I am a fan of Thai country people.
