Having been there too (not actually the school though) my heart goes out to the kids and teachers, they must be devastated. I only hope that they can learn in the temple area (it's big). terrible story

I also hope the local Wat will give some practical and financial help.

It's sad to see this happening, to this school.

Sorry to hear about this Richard.

Sadly, having visited the school [for an article I was writing, which Richard was kind enough to facilitate] and seen the area above, this is not surprising. It's fortunate that this occurred on a Sunday.

It sounds to me like the most practical option might be just for them to make the best use possible out of the remaining wing; as you say it has concrete supports and is safe for the kids. It also wouldn't require the government to come up with much money, which they are unlikely to do given the small number of students attending there. Perhaps they might be able to use some of the wood from the part that collapsed to build on to the existing portion?

At the very least, having the remaining kids study in the one remaining wing of the school would be better than nothing, and that seems like what they would get.
