The day I went it was monsoon rain for about 4hrs which meant most of the animals retreated indoors and made me a bit wet and miserable. I need to go back on a sunny day so that I can enjoy it proprly!

It looks a very nice place to be too-something Zoo designers often seem to forget.
Just a suggestion for the site, Richard:
Maybe the various places visited by you and Grace featured on the site could each have a star rating awarded by yourself as an adult and also by Grace as a "consumer", this may help both parents and children decide what is the best overall option .

I didn't realize that it was so beautiful there. That first picture is idylic. Like you say, 100 baht is good value for money and I will make an effort to visit at my next opportunity. Keep these ideas coming.

I've been to Dusit Zoo for quite a few times (I used to live around the area). I always take friends and family who visit me there.

We've been to the zoo once in the late 90's (can't recall the exact year), and found the consitions for animals pretty pathetic. Dirty cages and animals' living areas, trashes strewn about, and the animals themselves didn't look like they were well-taken care of.

It's been many years, and things may have improved. Do you find this to be the case, Richard?

Nice cheap day out. I should have spent 2 hours at the zoo in the middle of my former Thai girlfriends graduration ceromony next door, it would of filled in some time.

We also enjoyed a visit to the Dusit Zoo in January with our 2-year-old. You can get up much closer to the animals than you can in Australian zoos. The monkeys kept my daughter entertained for ages, though we will be sure to catch the bird show next time. Looking forward to more of yours and Grace's tips on Bangkok for kids.

Dusit Zoo is one very interesting plac for zoo people like me as well as for "normal" visitors. I especially like the reptile house of course ( with a great frog exhibition, demonstrating the reasons of the current amphibian crisis) and the wonderful groups of Douc´s langurs.
Dusit Zoo is a MUST SEE for Bangkok visitors and zoo lovers.

Great pics and tips on Dusit Zoo Richard. Well done!! I am coming back to Bangkok in October for a short trip and wasn't planning on going to the zoo, as I was going to safari world, but am going to the zoo instead now..
Thanks for the info.

Take care.
