Thanks for an excellent description of this attraction, Richard. However, I feel the ridiculously high entrance fee for foreigners (compared to Thais) is likely to deter visitors at a time when foreign currencies are dropping against the Baht.

Thanks for an excellent report. I had heard before about Samphran elephant ground but wasn't sure whether it was worth a trip out there. It is expensive but I think it is worth it. I might go on my next trip.

Yes 500 baht is expensive, but on my last visit to Australia's Gold Coast, I went to attractions such as Sea World and Movie World and they were the equivalent cost of 1,600 Baht entry fee each, now that's starting to make Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo seem not to bad value for the Australian tourist, but on the other hand I think the Thai price should also be the same as the foreign price. If they mad the Thai price and the foreign price at 150 baht I think that would be fair on every one, as I have to add my airfare on top to come and see the show.. I'm also happy to see, that in the bottom photo, the man sitting on the middle elephant is holding an Australian Flag.

Foreigners pay 500 baht for entry while Thai pays less than 150 baht... The same for the elephant ride... we should all boycott these Thai parks until they practice non-disciminatory pricing!

Thanks for the report and any comments. the Samphran Elephant Ground & Zoo have been created for a tourist attractions. In my sight, cost 500 baht which base from all shows and other expense. It is really valued cost when compare with the cost to feed elephants, 10,000 crocodiles, and maintenance. which Thai cost is absolutely not enough for.
We offer only entrance fee discount to Thai and resident who is able to present the document. They are in limit entry to the stadium about 100 seats and diffirent gate. When booking is full, they have to wait for the next show. Thai who would like to stay with foreigners company has to pay the same rate at 500 baht as well.
Why to Samphran Elephant Ground & Zoo
1. You like to get some amazing valued.
2. You want to enjoy between learn more about elephants and Thai history.
3. You want to amazing the crocodile, in one of the cleanest crocodile display in the world.(Accredited by CITES 1991)
4. You want to enjoy your life and don't have time to waste.
Anywhere, anytime while you visiting elephant parks, you are saving elephants of the world and save them from roam free.
We are now take care of 30 elephants, half of them are born here with same father. Pet, Ploy and Tubtim are the 3 young ones visitor can be seen and touch this year.

An excellent review of this attraction. I think that most overseas visitors would be happy to pay the entry fee, considering the number of attractions. People should stop trying to beat down the prices and just enjoy the spectacle.
