Never knew Lumpini Park had a lake! I have spent some time there when visiting Bangkok to escape the noise and traffic.
I take it that it is still not a good place to go afterdark?

So I presume the 40 baht cost of hiring the paddle boats, is the same price for both foreigners and Thai's.

Hey, you came VERY close to where my house is! :)

Lots of memories with that park. When I was growing up, we used to come to Lumpini park with my grandmother for Loy Kratong. We'd also go to pay respect to King Rama VI statue with her. Us kids got on the paddle boats many times. And later on, Dad and I would change up from walking around the track at Polo Club to walk around the park once in a while. It's just a little difficult to find parking. (Technically, we could've walked from the house to the park but altogether it was too long a walk for dad.)

Every Sunday evening (5-7 pm) in the
cool season months of December-January,
there is a free classical music
performance by the Bangkok Symphony
Orchestra (BSO, a part of the annual
Music in the Garden festival, held at
the Palm Garden of Lumbini Park.
The garden is located in the middle of the park beside the lake. Cool breeze and
cool music.
