Nov5: All we have in the UK, at best, is a bonfire in the freezing cold-and it is very cold and frosty a the moment- and a fortune spent on a box of fireworks that last about 30 mins ! :-))
Wish I was there!

When I was growing up (a long time ago...) in Thailand, we made krathong from banana leaves. It was a very delicate work since we had to cut them into specific shapes, fold and sew them together and hope that the krathong would float!

So I see this year's new foundation for a kratong is a reuseable plastic bowl (khann). That's clever! But will it withstand the candle? :)

When I was a kid, we used foam and paper leaves, but by 5-6th grade, we were all taught to do one with banana leaves and slice of the tree.

Will blog about our OC Loy Kratong here too. See how far I've come in the art of kratong making. Hehe.
