I am surprised on your persistence regarding the warning from soldiers and the landmine. because in the past guirillas had been kidnaped alot of Farangs for ransoms. WEll I'm glade you're safe and come back to tell tale.

Persistence pays off! Glad you & Mali made it to this special area!

Excellent pix too, most don't realize how big the mountains are in the north part of the Kingdom.

ps: let's hope Cambodia & Laos find a way of getting rid of ALL the landminds, their lingering death is all too real...:-(

Thanks for this interesting article. A friend of mine in France had just asked about this temple. I sent her the link so that she could get a first-hand account of the place she wants to visit.
Best wishes,

I would recommend you to tour Angkor wats first they were discovered recently (30 yrs ago) there are many temples very well preserved and very safe it took me 2 days a rough tour could take 7-10 days to understand in detail.

The Thais is the one who should look at their difference, not us Khmers. They tried to claim Preah Vihear temple as their own. As if they built it.

Nice report and good pics.

Just one comment, you write "Although geographically in Isaan, the monument itself is actually on Cambodian soil".
Well actually the provinces Sisaket/Surin/Buriram are in fact Cambodian soil (it's no coincidence Khmer is widely spoken in these provinces, and that all those Khmer temples have been built there) The rest of 'Isaan' was stolen from Lao.
