Stories From The Thai Press - 06

(Translated from the Thai Rath Newspaper, 24 March)
After Mr Wichai (Tao), aged 24, from Samut Songkram province, who earns his living by dealing in old goods, got married to gorgeous twins Ms Sirintara and Ms Thipawan 22, he vouched his sincerest ‘equal love’ for both of them!
Mr Wichai, just yesterday, 23 March, got married in pompous ceremony to both twins simultaneously. On being interviewed by the Thai Rath reporters, Mr Wichai declared wholeheartedly, that he didn’t see much problem in having to perform tiresome marital duties with two wives.
In the engagement ceremony before the wedding, Mr Wichai successfully offered a dowry of eight baht of gold and 80,000 baht EACH for his lovely darlings. Both families celebrated the marriage with joy and were said to be delighted for the threesome.
Mr Wichai told the press that he had been best of friends with his neighbouring twins since they were children. “When I grew older, I would walk past their house each morning and try to decide for myself which one I fancied more, but it was darned impossible – I adored BOTH of them – I just couldn’t decide, which one of them to chat up….!”
He went on to say “For three continuous years all three of us would go on dates together, until there was one day when I couldn’t stand the frustration any longer and told them I love you and want to marry you BOTH”
The fortunate Mr Wichai, instead of getting a slap in the face, was overjoyed when both girls admitted to having sworn all along, that they wished to marry the same man! “It wasn’t easy at first, what with the neighbours gossiping, but our family sympathized, understood, and fully supported our mutual love for the one man” the twins said.
Mr Wichai arranged for his brides to live with him, in his family house after the wedding, and his mother has already proudly prepared TWO rooms for the newly-weds.
Our reporters were just gagging to hear the response to this mouth-watering question “And.... what are the sleeping arrangements Mr Wichai”? to which he replied modestly with a beaming smile “Absolutely no problems! For the first three nights of the week, I will sleep with Ms Thipawan and the next three will be spent with Ms Sirintara. As for every Saturday, the three of us will sleep together”
Ms Sirintara finally told the press “When my twin and I worked as assistant nurses, we promised each other that we would never leave each others side, and that our future husband would have to either take us both, or leave us”
“Anyway, Mr Wichai is the perfect man – he neither smokes nor drinks!”

I recall that this marriage is ceremonial only - officially still not recognized.
What I find ironic is how much more sincere this marriage seems like, compared to the usual old-geezer-farang/poor-thai-country-bumpkin disgrace they call "marriage".
I hope these three will have a happy life together, even without that piece of official paper.

From what is written all three sound really nice and I hope they are very happy and have a good life, but I also wish I was him (very much).

Lucky man and I envy him his Saturday nights.

Trust me. I'm a wive. I KNOW. ;-D
Double the trouble or double the free labour? Now, that is the question! Seems to read like a bit of a toss-up.
I wish them the best but it would be interesting to see how such a relationship will affect their children.
Could having the truth be known and accepted (as in the story) be better than keeping a second wife nice and quiet on the side (as is quite normal)?
As far as the man... well 555.... I do hope he does well to remember to do his chores! I couldn't imagine having two angry women on my back, it is very hard sometimes with just one.
Great story, great find, and thank your for the translation Steve!
polygamy AND incest.
what did they say about Buddhism again??
And who said anything about Buddhism?
And Siamjai - what's up with the out of context rant against old-timey farangs and their babes from the country? Seeing some inexplicable hostility displayed there.
But that's another topic for another blog. Meanwhile a fun one from Steve, thanks!
Buddhism teaches ' do not commit Adultery ' which differs from this case. They are all happy, end of story :)
Wish them luck.

But that's another topic for another blog.
That blog has already been written, Jerry. It's titled Under the Magnifying Glass. What's written there is all I have to say about it.
The story Steve wrote about here is a good reminder about how 'boxed-in' our notion of marriage became. Makes me wonder how many good, honest relationships are excluded just because either the gender, or the number of participans is different from the dogma. Meanwhile, many dishonest relationships get the official recognition, based only on these two critera.
Some out-of-box thinking and a major revision of values are long overdue both in Thailand and elsewhere, IMO.
omg.. what a horny bastard, lol!
We've all heard that Europeans are more "broad minded" when it comes to having someone beside the wife on the side.
When I heard of the "lesser wife" concept in the Land Of Smiles, as it was explained to me:
"as long as you give the main/first wife MORE than you give the lesser wife, there is no problem"...
Naturally this was told to me by a man, I wonder what the main/first wife really thought?
This plural relationship, best of all worlds, etc has been around in some form or another in ALL countries on earth. The mores, customs and desires change little, what change does happen, often starts between the ears...:-)
Since a lotta folks on the Net enjoying reprinting a load of our blogs here without actually informing us, or let alone asking for any permission, I do a google search on my name from time to time to see where my pen-name/blogs have been getting to.
It was through this that i surprisingly came across westerners with the surname 'Suphan'.
Sorry, but i am completely not related and Suphan as in my pen-name, is a shortened form of the province in which i live - Suphanburi.
Most Thais just say 'Suphan' for Suphanburi.
I will write a post that shows step by step for not letting this happen again like that. Once again I want to say thanks for the great article, and the hard work put into translating!
This is certainly the 'unseen Thailand' as news like this is not reported in English newspapers or websites. Keep up the great work!
Just doesnt look the same without it!
hook me up!!!!!!!!!!
80,000 baht ask me for more.
if the girls ever leave their husband,
I am available to provide consolation services to them.
Brill article as usual, keep 'em coming, matey!!

dk
