Nice to see you back Oakey, was just beginning to wonder where you had got to. A few of our other older regular bloggers seem to 'have fled the scene' resembling some Bkk bus driver who has just caused a huge pile-up!

Just like you, i always recommend the Patpong/Patpong Soi 2/Silom 4 area to newbies to Bangkok. Just like year i took (my fiancee then) Ms Su to 'Patpong'. Could have imagined what she thought when i mentioned "Come on Su, lets go to Patpong tonite!"

In fact, i took her to Radio City, great live music! Then after, we went for a bit of a Latino dance at another open-air live music gaff. In the meantime, we popped in for a cheapy steak Japanese-style at Mizo's restaurant (Patpong's first foreign orientated establishment). Then, a small beer on Patpong 2 to witness the ladyboys stalking the passer-bys.

Most ex-pats loathe Patpong, but not me! The only thing i cant do down that way is purchase a dodgy DVD after i helped bust them all a couple of years back!! (see older blog!)

So, what is the "show upstairs"? I hesitated to go myself.
Actually hung outside the go-go bar resisting offers by the ladies. They all swore I understood Thai because Steve Suphan, just the day before, taught me how to ask for the bathroom in a complete sentence. I did and it worked. The girls would not believe me when I said i had no idea what they were saying, but they included me in their chatter regardless.
I miss your writing.
