I have lived in Samut Songkhram or as it is referred locally, Mae Klong (after the river) cumulatively two years + and can attest is one of the loneliest towns to live solo! Generally everything shuts down post 9pm...though there are some massage and drinking holes that I would never dare walk in alone. As Richard started to touch on, S. Songkhram is a great place to get fattened up. Never go hungry here. One observation I have noticed is Samut Songkhram residents are generally bigger and taller than elsewhere in Thailand, probably a lot to do with all the food and nutrients here. THe economy is fruit and fish...overall I'm proud to be one of the few foreigners to call this province my home...at least for now.

Thai food is one of the best and the healthiest foods. Hope I can be at home that period to see the fair.
