Dear Richard, Thanks for the interesting read. It brings back a lot of fond memories of Sangklaburi and my Burmese friend in P Guesthouse. P Guesthouse is definitely a nice and friendly place to stay. I Stayed in one of the Aircond room near the lake. You should also take a boat ride to the sunken temple floaded in the course of building the dam. See my previous blogs. Thanks for the "real" New Year card too.

I am quite interested by this blog as I am thinking about staying in Sangkhla for a couple of months and am thinking about my accommodation options. Isn't there a 3rd place on the lake?

Kwaai Doi, a couple of months is a long time for visitor unless you are a volunteer working to help to Burmese refugeses there. Sangkhlaburi is quiet place. Please my blog for more pix.

@ kwaai doi

There are many hotels around the lake now. You don't have to stay at the guesthouses which I mentioned. However, they would work out cheaper.

I enjoyed reading this. I am thinking about going to Sangklaburi to volunteer with Burmese refugees. Is it difficult to get to Sangklaburi by public transportation?

A group of 10 of us are venturing to Sangkhlaburi on May 10 with loads of luggage for some humanitarian work. Any advise how we can find the best and most economical form of private transport direct from Suvarnabhuni Airport to Sangkhlaburi. Appreciate any feedback and info. Cheers
