I lived in Thailand for a year (mostly Bangkok). The only places I saw christmas decorations were in the shopping centers in Siam square and a few other places. They certainly didn't many decorations up in Chok Chai Si where I was living at that time.

Hardly noticed Christmas on the streets of Chiang Mai last year -which was exactly what I wanted, as I have never been a big fan of "Christmas"

Hi Oakley!

I have to agree with Khun Don a little since I see how Christmas makes some people crazy here it's not one of my favorite holidays. I would not go within one mile of a shopping mall this time of year unless I ahd too.

It would be weird though to see all the lights and decorations in Thailand. Oakleys pics look just like here in the US but it would feel strange trying to get the Christmas 'feeling' there in 33 + celcius weather! Just not used to sweatin' through the holidays ;)

Anyways, to everyone that enjoys the Season no matter where you happen to be may you all have the Happiest of Holidays and the Best of the coming New Year whether it's 2006 or 2549!!

Chaiyo!

Not quite a sweltering 33 Celsius Wit. I am sitting here at the computer wearing a jacket. It is soooo cold. When I went to school this morning it was a very chilly 19 Celsius and everyone was wrapped in pullovers and jackets. Up north it is even colder at about 15 Celsius. In Loei, it even went down to zero.

Wow, I had no idea it got that cool in Thailand. Not surprising now that is has actually snowed in Thailand before! This sounds like a 'cool' compromise between the heat the rest of the year and the freezing tempatures here in the US every winter.

Besides I always thought I looked great in a nice sweater or smart jacket!

Ho, ho, ho ;)

I used to be glued to the tube for weather during winter, waiting to see when Doi Intanon hits zero celsius. I believe it "snowed" up there once when I was a kid, as in the flakes came down instead of rain and promptly went away, for all 5 minutes.

Yep. It's 77F in BKK...bust out your sweaters!

Hey Wit ! Good to see you back -missed your blogs etc.

I went up Doi Intanon in Jan 2004 -it was very foggy and the temperature, 6 centigrade, was exactly that of the UK I had left 4 days before. Might have well stayed at home ! But the organic local grown coffee from the stall above the picnic area was very good (High praise as I am usually a tea drinker.)
As for Christmas, I have had to work this year and I have seen some ugly behavior from hyped-up shoppers -verbally abusing each other, bus drivers, and shop assistants. Oh to be in the LOS- Land of Sanity !
