This was a nice calming read, Richard. Just being on the boat sounded relaxing.
I'll tuck this in my list of things to see.
Thanks.

Here is an update on prices from The Nation (4th Jan 2006):

Tourists rushed to Chachoengsao over the New Year break to watch dolphins gathering at the mouth of the Bang Pakong River, but many complained later of being overcharged by boat operators.

From 1,000 to 3,000 visitors per day visited the area on the holidays to see dozens of mostly Irrawaddy dolphins swimming in the bay.

However, there were numerous complaints that a lack of monitoring by officials allowed private boat operators to charge tourists as much as Bt1,500 each for a one or two-hour tour.

President of Thakham Tambon Administration Organisation, Somjit Phansuwan, said the TAO recently set rental rates for large boats at Bt1,000, with mid-sized boats at Bt700 and small boats at Bt500, and a per-person fare of Bt100.

The fares were 30-per-cent higher than last year due to higher oil prices, Somjit said.

Private boats operating at piers on some resorts could charge as much as Bt1,500, Bt2,500 or and Bt8,000, depending on their size, Somjit said. - The Nation, Chachoengsao
