Richard,
Great information, I'm never quite sure what the correct etiquette is, and this is helping immensely. Hopefully I will not make as many mistakes on my next visit. Looking forward to the remainder of the series.

Yeah, good stuff here Richard, informative.

Im teaching primary level now but throughout my years teaching at high school level, if i met a student 'outside' of school, i would 'receivingly' wai them back. In school however, it is unheard of for any teacher to acknowledge a student's 'wai'.

Once, when recruiting teachers in teachers in Bkk i had to 'make clear' - 'teacher etiquette' as i had heard so many hilarious reports of foreign teachers walking into class, wai-ing class and shouting out 'Sawatdee krap'. But as a foreigner, the Thais are really understanding if you fail to 'get' a few points about their etiquette.

I agree with the above people. I am finding these pictures really useful in knowing how and when to wai. Please keep them coming.
