I was pretty good with poetry growing up and obviously, Sunthorn Phu is one of my inspiration.

Actually, in 8th grade, I wrote an "epic" parody of Phra Abhai Mani, 5 chapters of at least 4 pages of "Glon 8"--8-syllable poetry Sunthorn Phu is famous for. The starting point was from toying with one of the verse we were learning in class. The next thing I knew, I was writing for the next few months, putting a Weird Al spin to the classic. It's just my way of paying tribute to my poet-idol. :)

Thanks for the article, Richard!
