Just a couple of kilometers north of Samrong, Samut Prakan, there is a Navy base, next to that base is Wat Bang Nanok, where my friends Uncle lives in a monastery near the river, he is a Monk. I had often visited Uncle Monk here and go on his morning food pick up round in the back of a pick up truck driven by the monks brother, i.e.my friends father. Looking at Richards map at the number 1, then go to where the river is closest to the number 1 which is south east, cross Chao Phraya River, That's where Uncle Monk lives, I asked Uncle Monk using a translator if there was any crocodiles in the water, as I said that seems very thick jungle on the opposite bank, he said there was none, but you never know. Any way it is amazing, that there is such a thick jungle so close to the centre of Bangkok

I have briefly visited Wat Bang Na Nok. You can catch a ferry here to the other side of the river for a few baht. Do you know what the story is with the buffalo in the temple grounds?

I don't know the story of the buffalo, but because there were so many mango trees on the ground's I always got a free mango off uncle monk for break fast as he knew I loved them.

My wife's home is right next to the Sri Nakhon Khuankun Park. Here are a few pictures.

When I first visited Thailand we caught a taxi from the airport, took a small boat across the river with our luggage went up a small wooden dock, down a concrete path, and then home. It was a pretty amazing transformation. I will be going back there in September to stay for 6 months. It really is another world.

Thanks for this, Richard! It seems like this floating market is a little more traditional than the all-out, dramatized for tourist version of the Damnuen Saduak. I will get Brandon out to here when we visit next time.
