I don't know about you but I really enjoy listening to a variety of Thai music. If you are learning Thai, it is also a great way to tune your ears. I took the above picture last weekend at a free concert by the Thai pop group Armchair. It is amazing how many free concerts that are around. The big stars not only go to city halls and arenas but also to local schools.
If you want to listen to some Thai music but have no idea what they are saying, then you should visit one of our web sites called ethaimusic.com. There are hundreds of songs there which you can listen to for free. Many of the songs have also been translated into English by members of our forum.
You might have noticed that the blog pages are openly very slowly today. That is mainly because of the large amounts of people listening to the music. You see, both of these web sites, and about 30 of our other sites, are all on the same server. In just the last five hours alone, there were 10,000 unique visitors to the music web site. Which probably means there will be at least 40,000 visitors today. These people are not just from Thailand. But from all around the world. (In comparison, thai-blogs.com is only getting 1,000 unique visitors per day but we are expecting that to double over the coming months.)
If you are not sure which song to listen to first, then visit the following page. It has charts for the most popular songs for today and for thelast 7 days.

Our music web sites include:

http://www.top10thaimusic.com
http://www.listen2thaimusic.com
We now have added an e-mail feature to the main blogs. You will see a link to contact us on the right hand side. If you would like to comment on the blogs as a whole, or would like to share your ideas of which direction the blogs should take in the future, then please send me an e-mail. Your participation in the future of the blogs is appreciated.

This is one of my favorite topics on Thai culture I am a huge fan (i.e. freak) of Thai music. My Thai CD's outnumber my western music CD's roughly 10 to 1 with bands like Clash, Kala, Bodyslam, Bang Kaew and my ultimate all time favorite band LABANOON!!!
That's great to hear that many bands give free concerts cuz that is one thing I would love to do when I am in Thailand. My faen in Thailand wants to go see the symphony when I am in Thailand which is cool but give me a concert and some Thai rock anytime!

Wit and I probably were switched during our journey into this realm. I should've been born an American, and he a Thai. HAHA. :-D
Keep checking back ;)

However , I didn't know that it will be so popular that I can't even access it now.
Guess our Sawatdee must be cracking his head now for another solution.
How disappointing, it all seems to be string (thai pop) and as such no more interesting than western pop, less so in fact. Why not add some other thai music styles especially luktung?-peter
Thanks
does someone know if labanoon do play concerts in 2009 in thailand? is there a labanoon website available where tourdates are named?
thanks
thomas
