Mae Fa Luang University in Chiang Rai

This is my second visit to MFU (www.mfu.ac.th). The first was in 2004 with a group of friends. As all of them are Chinese, they are interested to see the Chinese Garden which was featured in Bangkok Post. Another reason for dropping by was to explore the opportunity and options for living or working in Chiangrai after my retirement. I had the opportunities of meeting a faculty Dean and 3 faculty members and exchange ideas. The Chinese lecturers were very interested to find out about Chinese in Malaysia and their lives and culture. I am always ready to share my views and experiences.

This trip which was done in July 06 was more a revisit for both me and my wife, thanks to free (well almost free at 1500 bahts return) tickets provide by www.airasia.com. She has visited CM & CR on coach tour a few years before. I planned to visit a friend working as a lecturer in CMU. But due to his prior meeting engagement in BKK, I have to meet up with one of his graduate students but some how this also did not materialized. I have to content with visiting another university in CR instead.

My wife loves gardens and spends a lot of her time working in her little garden at home and with our Cocker Spaniel. I was quite confident that The Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Centre (ศูนย์ภาษาและวัฒนธรรมจีนสิรินธร ) in MFU will interest her.

The first impression one would have on MFU is the stunning beautiful landscaping and environs. I have taken some photographs to share with you. If you are interested to find out more about MFU, you can visit http://www.mfu.ac.th and on The Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center, please visit http://www.mfu.ac.th/center/sirindhorn/index.html . I hope you will enjoy the virtual visit of MFU and the centre as I have.
