Thai Food Festival

For the past five months, the local authority in Paknam have been organizing a monthly Food Festival. This takes place on the 1st of the month opposite the entrance to the passenger boat jetty.  They close a section of the road and tables are set up down the middle of the road. Food vendors from all around come here once a month to server their specialities. There is always a large variety of food, so if you decide to go next month, make sure you are hungry!

Some girl guides, from my school, buying khao man gai (chcken on rice).

There is always a crowd for hoi tod (oyster in an egg batter)

Satay pork with the peanut sauce is always popular at only 2 baht per stick

  2. Oh, I will miss the festival…coming to Thailand in Jan, flight arrives on the 6th, staying until the 24th. Please can you recommend anything going on during this time? My email is nitnoy1015@aol.com . I am 32 yrs old and bringing my brother who is 19 yrs old. It is his first visit to Thailand, I am not sure what to show him in this short time. Mostly I just want him to see Thai culture, food and life of people more than specific places. Thank you in advance.

    Hello Richard,

We are a couple of Europe (Belgium) and we would like to visit Thailand again. First of all I would like to thank you for the pictures and useful information. We visited Thailand for the first time in Feb 07 – we went to Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Pattaya. Now we like to visit Thailand again in Oct 07. Can you tell us when exactly the Paknam food festival takes place? Could you also recommend us a nice modest hotel if possible with swimming pool?
